
My Story.
Roman Perez was born in the Dominican Republic. At a young age he and his family moved to Brooklyn, New York to pursue their dreams. He grew up in the Williamsburg during the 1990s, and as a child he would not go out to the playground to play because of the negative activities going on in his neighborhood and for this reason, his parents were concerned for his safety. He knew that one day he wanted to play basketball. Instead Perez, became a basketball card collector, NBA games video gamer, and would study the game all for the love. He was cut from teams repeatedly during his childhood and teen years, and was way behind skill wise from his peers. He started to train seriously, and work on his game his senior year in high school. He was on a mission, and was not going to let anything stop him from wanting to be the best version of himself.
Eventually, he made his first basketball team at the age of 23 where he played 2 years of college basketball, which later led him to return home to the Dominican Republic to pursue is pro career. Later in his journey he went around the world to places he would have never imagined of playing in North America, Latin America and Europe. He’s currently a well known in the Street-baller across the globe nicknamed “Da Gift”, where he is the team captain for the Court Kingz. In New York City and across the United States he has played and traveled to many well known tournaments. He’s a College, Pro and street ball Champion, where he currently holds 24 Championships and 37 MVP awards in total.
His basketball career has opened doors to appear on the news, commercials, and movies. From appearing in magazines in Europe, to the big screen with the late Pop Smoke in the film “Boogie”, to even appearing on a H&M store t-shirt Globally. Perez, has been featured in the NBA store website, Footlocker and Champs store, and the Nike/Jordan brand social media pages as a basketball model. On tv he’s appeared in Powerade and Body Armour commercials. Interviewed for the Daily News, NY times and NY Post newspapers.
He’s also a Champion as a basketball coach. Coached for elementary school ps119, where they won 2 back to back championships. Also at Murry Bergtraum high school, where the Varsity girls won their city championship. And lastly, City Champion for boys basketball at 754x Boys Basketball team.
He gives thanks to God and his family. His Parents Miriam and Dudo have been of great influence in all his success, as well as his brother Jason Perez. While striving and being a loving husband to Jennifer Perez and father to Leia and Lucia Perez. Perez is currently the founder of the Dudo Baez Academy and the Victorious Program, which both provides the opportunity for anyone who has a dream to fight for them whether it's on or off the court. His message is, “anyone who has a dream, always believe in yourself and put God first no matter what obstacles you may face in life”.
